Installed: DVD/NAV OEM Radio w/ Backup Camera.

I finally pulled the trigger on one of these OEM looking DVD NAV Headunits.

I purchased it from lightinthebox:

http://www.lightinthebox.com/8--Digi...-_p102196.html

It has a 8inch screen which feels HUGGGGGGGGE in the dash!

The unit came in about 3days and I paid for regular slow shipping (2-4weeks)

I also ordered a factory OEM style backup camera:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...#ht_5260wt_939

This took longer to arrive closer to week and a half.

The backup camera is AMAZING. It is very clear as soon as you put it in reverse it comes on quickly. Very clear picture.

The Bluetooth is AMAZING. Connected to my iphone flawlessly. I hear audio on car speakers and everyone on the other end say they hear me very well about 8/10.

Radio sounds very well, I think it makes better use of the stock speakers.

Steering wheel control: FAIL. I have yet have them work.

DVD: Dvd plays well with great picture and YES you can watch VIDEO while driving. [It is illegal to do so]

GPS: FAIL-ish. I could have purchased a DEMO maps but declined to do so. I have had a chance to find maps online [ IF SOMEONE CAN HELP ME OUT I WOULD BE VERY THANKFUL] The GPS does get a signal so it appears to be connected and functional.

Memory: Instead of using SD cards it uses the Transflash cards.

TV: Has the option for analog TV. Digital TV requires a DTV box. That doesnt interest me too much.

OVERALL:

Unit is very good quality, Looks VERY factory. I did go with the 8inch screen and it is HUGE. The main features I wanted to work were the backup camera and bluetooh and they work very well. GPS will be amazing if I can get maps and it works well. Steering wheel controls are a bummer but not a big deal as I never really used them.

That big screen!!! You'll get use to it and start wondering how other smaller screens look so small. I look at other 10 gens now and wonder why they dont have a DVD player. Looks, fit, like as-built.

The GPS is so-so at best. Use my Nokia N8 instead for GPS.

LOL thats the exact one i got...for the back up camera....did u just tap the camera into ur reverse light, then tap the white wire on the unit (the one that's not connected to it to the red reverse light wire? Im having trouble getting mine to work and iono if i have a defective camera or am i intalling it wrong

Unsure! I did not feel comfortable installing the backup camera, So I took it to a shop for install. They charged 90 for Install of Headunit and backup camera. Do you have GPS maps for it? If so which? I need them, Could you assist? Also do your steering wheel controls work.

I tried that: main page--set up--steering wheel-push the buttons

When I press Steering wheel button, it doesnt go to the screen where you set them. It just has "steering buttons" highlighted.

I can try AUX later.

I know the IPOD cable DID work.

Perhaps dumb question but:

There is no option for importing address/call book right? Like I know i can dial numbers on the head unit but i cant look for [certain name] i have to use/touch the phone for that

As of right now i havent found a way to make a call using the phone book yet...I believe that there is a phone book in the head unit itself that we can program numbers in...if i find a way ill let u noe

Looks good, but the finish looks different. Good review. Does it have a output for a sub? Can it be controlled and such?

The color is a little off but its not too bad...It does have a dedicated wire to connect ur amp to it or u can run ur subs direct into the headunit
