This sub-forum makes me sad...

After coming from the Gen 3/4 Camry sub-forum, this one is way too quiet.

It's the demographics of Avalon ownership with many owners being older IMO, so there's nowhere near as much modding, self maintenance, etc., as with Camry owners.

A reply!

The fact in your comment is indeed true, it certainly doesn't promote lots of forum activity.

I have '00 Avalon XLS... i wish this forum was active like Camry. I want to put tints, ram intake?, or what ever mod that can be done on the Avalon, like lips > making it more sporty. and a how to do a retro fit projectors for the avalon specifically. and lighting etc.

Oh! and is there a site that is specifically for Avalons? like siennachat.com for sienna, solaraguy.com for solara(but seem inactive), and toyotanation.com basicly for camry and corollas

I'll be picking up an '01 XLS sometime early next week, and I already have lots of plans. Including fully replacing the audio system, doing an HID retrofit (I'm currently in the process of selling the retrofitted lights I made for my Camry), tint, wheels, ect. I might do some light mods to make it handle better but I won't be bother with any kind of an intake or exhaust. In my opinion, there aren't enough options under the hood to pick up gains worth talking about. Going to just make it look as nice as possible and make it a pleasure to drive/ride in.

yeah...I was hoping for more activity of any kind here.

I think the best thing we can do is be active ourselves, and it will encourage others to join in on the fun.

Ditto. I've always taken great pride in my cars and had my Avalon looking top-notch for years, that was until my mountain bike accidentally came off its rack in the rafters of my garage and landed on the hood of my Avalon. Still pisses me off to this day, and because my Highlander became my new baby I never had the dents and scratches removed from the hood. Still, for long distance road trips my 2002 Avalon provides some excellent mileage with lots of ride comfort. I'm keeping it for quite a while....

I'll try to detail the projects as much as I can. I do almost all of my own automotive work, however, I won't touch tint. I work next door to a tint shop, so I will let them have that fun. I've not decided on how dark I want to go with it yet.

I don't have any pics of the soon to be mine Avalon, however it's "spruce silver" in color and has all of the bells and whistles. Though, it does only have 15" wheels and I believe 16" may have been an option in '01. If so, it's lacking that. The factory subwoofer is blown (like most others) but I don't need it anyways.

If you do I'll gladly create a DIY sticky thread for them.

Maybe they are 16" and I overlooked it... I'll know for sure once the car is in my driveway in a few days.

130,000, $5,000. Friend of the family, from what I can tell it's a smokin' deal.
